Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information.

Effective 30 September 2026.

This policy explains what personal information Gas Specialist collects, why, who it goes to and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Gas Specialist is the trading name of Kire Gas & Maintenance CC, Shop 10A, 28 Morris St, Bendor, Polokwane. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here. You can reach us at info@gasspecialist.co.za or on 015 495 1528.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to quote, install and service your gas appliances:

  • When you send an enquiry or quote request on this website: your name, email address, phone number, your message, the product you asked about if any, and the page you sent it from.
  • When you call, email or message us: whatever you choose to tell us, usually the same details.
  • When we do work for you: the installation address, the appliances installed or serviced, and the details needed for your Certificate of Compliance.
  • When you browse this website: anonymous usage information through Google Analytics. See section 5.

We do not ask for, and do not want, special personal information such as ID numbers, health or banking details through this website.

3. Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a written quote.
  • To carry out and certify the installation or service you ask for.
  • To issue and keep records of Certificates of Compliance, as the gas regulations require.
  • To remind you when an annual service is due, if you are on our service register. You can ask to come off it at any time.
  • To understand how people use this website so we can improve it.

We do not use your details for marketing lists, and we do not sell, rent or trade them.

4. Who we share it with

  • Make.com carries the enquiry forms on this website through to us. Make processes the form contents on servers in the European Union.
  • WhatsApp, owned by Meta, carries any messages you choose to send us on WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
  • Google provides Google Analytics (see section 5), YouTube, which plays the safety videos on our Guides page in its privacy-enhanced mode, and Google Maps, which shows our location on the Contact page. Google may process that data in the United States and elsewhere.
  • Regulators and certification bodies, where the law requires it, for example when registering a Certificate of Compliance.

Because Make, WhatsApp and Google process data outside South Africa, that information leaves the country. Both are bound by their own data protection terms and by laws that give protection comparable to POPIA, which is the condition POPIA sets for a transfer like this.

5. Cookies and Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits, see which pages are read and learn when an enquiry form is sent. It does this with cookies, small files stored in your browser, named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. They record things like the pages you view, roughly where you are browsing from, and your device and browser type. They do not tell us your name or contact details, and we do not use them for advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The website works the same either way.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not go ahead are kept only as long as we need to follow them up. Job records and Certificate of Compliance details are kept for as long as the law and the gas regulations require. Service register details are kept until you ask us to remove them. Google Analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our Google account.

7. How we protect it

This website only accepts secure (https) connections, and form submissions travel encrypted. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need them to do the job. No system is completely secure, but if a breach ever affects your information we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • Ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
  • Object to us using your information, or withdraw a consent you gave earlier.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator, at inforegulator.org.za.

To do any of these, contact our Information Officer below. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not charge you for a simple request.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
